officiated a doubleheader this past Saturday. OPRed a men's game and JRed a regulation game. Got taken out by my jammer at one point, and was able to call it off and award points from the floor, without missing a beat. Yay me!
Our league has a game on the 20th, but imma be on vacation, so I won't be attending. After that, the league kinda goes on hiatus and then moves into practices for team tryouts, so I might not necessarily have that many more games coming up.
Trying to figure out my tournament schedule for next year - I think I might branch out into ones that are further away. We'll see.
OH FORGOT TO MENTION - our men's team had a scrimmage where of the two referees there, I was the most senior, so I was sort of HR by default. I HAD TO DEAL WITH OFFICIAL REVIEWS. I HAD TO TALK LIKE AN OFFICIAL. One of them went okay (a call that was not made that no one saw because, well, there were only two of us), one of them was sort of an "oh fuck what do I do" (a mistake was made, on my part, but the mistake was made because we were running short staffed and would not have been made [or should not have been made] in a regular bout situation).
Nobody died, so it all worked out.
My skates are still giving me "I can't feel my toes" after a while - the doubleheader was particularly horrible - so I've decided to try just not lacing the first two sets of holes. Which, if you look at this picture, is pretty far down on the skate -
I'm not sure if it'll work, but I'll give it a shot.
